I've been wanting to book a safari with Gametrackers and one's available that i want, but there's already 6 in the group. From this forum, it seems like group size is pretty important to the overall experience. Do you think 7 is pretty standard and will be fine, or should i take my chances on trying to get in a smaller group?

What kind of vehicle are they using? If it's one of those 9-seater ones I've seen outside their office, I don't think 7 people will be a big problem. They're good looking vehicles (Landcruisers?), with space and a wide open view from the roof.

If it's a minivan, I'd be reluctant to go with more than 4 people total, let alone 7.

I agree--7 is too many. I went with Gametrackers last year and was lucky as there were only 3 of us. 6 would be max for Landcruiser and that's how you want to go--not a minivan. I would tell Gametrackers that and see how they respond. They book all kinds of stuff at th last minute depending on where you want to go.

It sounds like they have a custom-made Landcruiser for 6 and a little bigger one for 8. Thanks for your input--I'll see if I can work into a smaller group, but 7 in the 8 passenger Landcruiser might be alright if not.

I had similar fears about overcrowded vehicles before I went to Flatdogs in Zambia earlier this year. However, I found it didn't matter how many were in the vehicle (up to it's capacity of 9) because the vehicle is raised and the viewing space is open. I never felt that others were getting in my way. I think the Gametrackers' vehicles are the same or similar to the ones at Flatdogs.

Of course the fewer people the better, but we're talking budget safari here. It's not a luxury you can demand at this price range. Be thankful they're not putting you in a minivan.
