Do I need a voltage converter or just an adapter (and what kind) for travel in Kenya and Zanzibar? I'll be taking an ipod, camera, iphone etc.
Thanks

Kenya and Tanzania have the same voltage as Europe (220V?), so I guess if you and your equipment are coming from the US (110V?) you will need a converter.

Almost all new digital camera chargers can handle 110 to 240v. Just look on the back of your chargers. Voltage converters are heavy so don't take one unless you need one. Do take a US to British plug adapter. British to local are always easier to find that US to local in Africa.
As mad_paddler says, most new high-tech devices can handle the change in voltage, but you should check the specs. I have never had to take a power converter, though all I usually take is a battery charger (for AA batteries) and a portable storage drive. My laptop, on which I am now typing, also works fine with just the plug adapter.
A small collection of world adapters (or single universal adapter) can be bought pretty cheaply these days. Note that according to this site you may need two kinds of plug for Tanzania.
