Great info and comment. Not to distract from the OP, but we had thought about doing this but had not looked at Bradt and good to get your confirmation. Wonder if we could bring our own tent and sleep in it, or would we need to sleep in the driver tents?
choenh26 is the bus you took the Zambian Government Post Bus ?
If not, where do you get on the Lusaka to Mfuwe bus, in the main bus terminal area in Lusaka, and what is the company name? Thanks!

If you bring your own tent, it will be to sleep inside it every day and not only at Hwange NP.
At Ivory Lodge, you can sleep inside the tents normaly used by the drivers.

Obviously, yes, that's what we have done on all our 9 trips to Africa, travel with our own tent.
And, thanks, but I understood what you wrote about the driver's tent. What I want to know is different. Does the Ivory Lodge allow individuals to camp in their own tent who arrive without a vehicle? Thanks.
You get it from the main bus terminal in Lusaka, I can't remeber the exact name of the company but it begins with Jo.. I'll try and find out if I wrote it down anywhere and let you know
Hi Gringo,
You cant go wrong with those itineraries. I live in Kenya, and will do a trip into Uganda in Feb., and can give you more info after that. Also note the wildebeest migration should be in northern Tanzania by then, so that could be a cool thing to do. You could pair it with a little Zanzibar/Pemba trip as well.
Best,
