Hi there,
can anybody help me with good and cheap accomodation in Kisumu?
I heard about the Sooper Guesthouse but couldn't find any comments on it..
Has anybody of you stayed there?
Cheers,
Mirko

There is several places close to Kisumu Museum. Also a very cheap place just at AKAMBA office.

I liked the New Victoria Hotel in Kisumu. The rooms were clean and reasonably priced, I think it was around 700 Ksh for a single. The breakfasts were good and I had the tastiest omlette in all of my African travels there! There is a restaurant downstairs that serves good local food as well as a bakery.
The only draw backs of this place was that it was a bit noisy early in the morning because of the bakery and also the outragiously yummy smells coming from the bakery that made me hungry constantly!
The staff were very friendly and helpful...I give it a big thumbs up!
Happy travelling

I agree with #2 - New Victoria Hotel was great. Staff were quite friendly and full of local knowledge, which I really appreciated, being a single traveller. Rooms had a TV, a fan and mosquito nets. It's close enough to town that you can walk. They have a private dining room, as well as the restaurant downstairs. It was a little noisy, but staff were more than happy to move me to a quieter room.
