Hello!

I am planning a trip to Ghana, arriving in the beginning of Augsut and staying for about 2-3 months. My main goal is finding a good place learning to dance and drum. I have been searching the internet for hours but it isn´t easy finding any places/institutes having courses. The Academy of African Music and Art in Kokrobite have a defunct homepage (www.afrikamusica.com), The Odehe Center outside Accra doesn´t either seem to have any courses any more. As I understand the Cape Coast is a…

Hi everyone. Brand-new here, pardon my dust.

I'm a fellow with an unusual job: I travel the world with shortwave radios and collect music from every country within earshot. After several years of hearing astonishing music from the African radio diaspora, I'm eager to jump to the continent itself. I've settled on Ghana to get my feet wet for the rest of West Africa. I have a few questions, all of which basically hinge on being a guy who sits in remote places all through the night wearing…

Hey all,

I was hoping I could pick the brain of someone who knows (a lot) more than me... I'm flying to Ghana in a few weeks and am planning to go to Togo, Benin and then to BF en route to Mali (Dogon Country etc) and then back down to Ghana. I have 6 weeks, is this a viable plan? We are interested in seeing a bit more than just the main touristy sites and will be using public transport. If we don't have time for all of this, I think Mali might have to come off the itinerary, which would be a…

Ghana is my second trip that will probably involve a decent amount of beachgoing. The last time I traveled, I was incredibly nervous about leaving money/passport either in a hostel or bringing them to the beach with me, meaning I was always keeping half an eye on my stuff on shore. It was especially nerve-wracking when going to the beach after checking out of one hostel, prior to traveling to the next one. Any tips on either minimizing risk, or minimizing worry? Thanks!

Hello

I am looking to buy a laptop/netbook in Accra, ideally second hand, the cheaper the better.

If anyone is looking to sell their laptop or can recommend a cheap reputable dealer in Accra please get in touch.

Alternatively if you are here long term and have a laptop you are not really using I only need it for two months and would be happy to come to an arrangement where I 'rent' it thus earning you some extra cash.

Thanks!
Ali

Hello,
I need a 1500 watt voltage transformer to use in Ghana for American appliances. My question is; would a 1500 watt voltage transformer be readily available to me in Ghana, so I won't have to carry one to Ghana with me? If so, what is the average cost?

My partner is a percussionist. I'd very much like to bring back a hand made drum as a surprise "sorry I've been away so long" gift. I'll be staying In Accra, traveling to Cape Coast, Elmina, Ankasa, Kakum, and Kumasi.

Where would be the best place among the aforementioned to purchase a mid-size djembe? What of the cost?
THANK YOU FELLOW TRAVELERS !!! (this forum is amazing!!!)

Hello all!

I write a food and travel blog and i had a 4 week teaching trip in Ghana last summer. The experience was more on the teaching in the poor schools but the unique food still came up in places. Any comments, advice and tips are much much appreciated. Please do :o)

Fellow travellers,

I'm hoping to visit Ghana during July/August/September, which falls right into rainy season. I really don't mind rain or staying in one day or another, but wouldn't want to spend more than half of my time in a lodge waiting for roads to clear again.

How bad does it really get? Is travelling and touring still "doable" during these months, or will I really spoil my trip if I decide to go during these months? Unfortunately, I have no other time period available. A different…

I am a 44 year old Norwegian man looking for a travel companion next week. I will arrive in Accra Saturday evening. I am flexible with my travel plan. Please let me know if you want to join me for parts or the whole journey. I am flexible so we can discuss where to go. It’s not a must to go to all three Countries
