Hi all!
My wife and I will be passing through Ghana this month and we have a few weeks time (about 14 days) free to volunteer. Has anyone heard of or had any good experiences with a location to volunteer which doesn’t require large amounts of advanced notice time, long commitments, and additional (other than room and board) fees being charged their volunteers.
Thank you and I look forward to reading your replies,

Hi all,
Thanks so very much for Great info on my question on currency - will bring Euros!

I will be landing in Accra December 12th, that´s pretty soon. If somebody can recommend a nice place to stay, maybe up to $20, or so, that too would be helpful.
I get the impression there are lots of places, but I´m looking for something nice and safe, just arriving from Europe, a bit tired...

Many thanks again!
Erik

Hi,
I understand that dollar is the better hard currency to bring to Ghana, but I´m also going to former french territories, like Togo and Benin, and there it appears Euro is the King. It´s always a bit hard to figure how much to take and I don´t trust the ATM:s to much. Would it be OK to change Euros in Ghana as well? Hassle free?

Your answer is very helpful!

hi all,
i will be traveling to ghana from december 15 to 22, and it's my first time as a solo female traveler. after reading some scary stuff about taxi drivers, i am getting anxious about the trip! i was planning on doing everything on my own, but am now considering going through a tour company instead. i am looking for any advice about safety as a woman traveling alone, as well as any recommendations for possible tour operators. thanks so much!
rebecca
p.s. if anyone is going to be in ghana…

are there less mosquitos in the area due to the fact that its close to the beach?
can you forgo aircondition in that area since you are close to the beach?
how about safety?
we are looking for some potential lodging in the area.
thanks

I am looking for a 1 bedroom flat or flat share in Accra and would be grateful if anyone had any ideas of knew of suitable places to check out. I understand that it is hard to find accommodation in Accra with very pro-landlord regulations. I am now in Accra.

Hello everybody!

If anybody is considering volunteering in Ghana I would like to reccomend the following website: www.ghanaorphanage.org

We have just put it up, it is run by volunteers and the prices are affordable - just to cover the costs!!. No third organization to charge fees, everything goes to the orphanage.

If you are interested contact us for more details. Thank you!

Hi all,

What is the best way to go from Bolgatanga in the north to the Volta region (Hohoe area)? We would have a private vehicle.

Any recommendations on where to spend a night en route?

Thanks for any input.
