During our stay in Kokrobite at Big Milly's Backyard a member of the staff, Paajoe offered to act as a tour guide for us. This is not offered through Milly's but as he is so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about his country he offered to take us on a tour after he had finished his duties. This meant he had to work extremely hard to finish his duties so he could finish work early and take us for an amazing day out .

During our time there we went on two tours with Paajoe , the first was an hour spent walking through the village of Kokrobite visiting many parts that other guests had not been able to see on their own and it would be fair to say that Paajoe's presence made us very welcome with many of the locals who had been slightly unwelcoming with some of the unaccompanied tourists. This added up to a truly amazing and very humbling experience for me and my wife!
The second tour we took with Paajoe included a long walk along the beach on the way to a monkey sanctuary, again, through parts tourists are advised not go to but as Paajoe is a well known and respected member of the community we always felt safe and welcome . We were unlucky in our timing and only saw three monkeys in the distance but that was just our bad luck !! (spoke to people who had seen loads of them very close) .
After the monkey sanctuary we took a short ride in a local shared taxi ( with Paajoe sitting in the boot !!!) to a river where we took a canoe trip visited the beautiful Bojo beach , helped the fishermen pull in their nets and marveled at the fantastic wildlife-the commentary from Paajoe was very informative and at times very funny .

Doing this tour with this guide we probably paid less than half of what we would have paid without his guidance, most guides here expect you to pay their entrance fees or taxi fares but because of his knowledge and connections you don't pay a thing for Paajoe .Whilst Paajoe does not ask any fee for his tours a fee at your own discretion would be more than welcomed as the staff in Milly's earn very little .

I totally recommend Paajoe as a guide , whether it's local or further afield in Ghana . He seems very keen to build up a career as a tour guide and was more than happy to take us to Mole park, Cape Coast or any other place we wanted to go to .
Our experience in Ghana was amazing , made all the better by the two days we spent in Paajoes company , our only regret was that we only had 10 days there and never had enough time to take the tours this man had offered !
If you go to Big Millys , you will meet Paajoe , a great guy and a great guide .
thanks
Peter
