There's some villages in the north where you could rent a solar cooker for your purposes, between meals, when they are not in use.

You might be onto something Mark.

A tanning salon holds little interest. But a tanning saloon--with swinging doors and a full bar--I might just go there!

After rereading the initial question, I think he meant a tatoo saloon, this makes more sense to me in Accra--- already tanned from a day at the beach , pimp your body with a tatoo..........

But then again - minus the swinging doors - all this already exists as a typical (expat) beach bar in a tropical country, which brings us back to # 3's suggestion...

In June, July and August Accra recieves very little unbroken sunshine. You cannot sunbathe successfully every day of the year. Besides, most expats are professionals who work long hours. There are also people in Accra for only a few days on busy business schedules. And those for whom Accra's beaches hold little appeal or who are simply uncomfortable about the prospect of stripping-off in public. Tanning studios offer a convenient solution for all sorts of people. Why won't you stop fooling around?

You're right. A colleague of mine just returned from Accra, and when I commented that she didn't get any tan, she replied that it was raining all the time and that the hotel where she attended the workshop was terribly cold because of the a/c.

Anyhow, I cannot give you answer to your initial question.

OK then - does anyone know of a 'tanning studio' (how quaint) in the whole of Africa?

Come on - there must be one somewhere.............and no Makumba doesn't count.....

Back online after a (now common) 14h load shedding (quaint again) power cut here in Addis
