Short message from Ghana

You mean text? Of course. Local SIM cards purchased in Ghana allow you to do this very cheaply. You can also phone direct cheaply on the same cards.

If you're thinking of using a European SIM card in Ghana, I have no idea whether texting will be possible, but I suspect it'll be expensive if so. My (American) card allows use in much of Africa for astronomical prices.

it is possible to send a text, but it is also possible that the text never arrives to the european phone, it depends on the provider in europe and in ghana, at least that is my experience with Burkina Faso, out of 3 providers, one allow us to text to slovenia, slovenia cannot text back, anotherone receives texts from Slovenia but cannot reply to them
from ethiopia for example you can send a text to one of the slovene providers but not to another and vice versa.
