Letter of Invitation

You can get one from where you are staying.

Being on a business visa is very different to being on a tourist visa ... if you're there on business you should get the company you are going to meet to write one for you.

I'm in the process of sorting out visas for a few from SA at the moment ... this is normal practice for many countries in W.Africa now

Hi. Yes, this stupid nonsense had me worried as well. In fact, the Ghanian embassy in my country for the tourist visa also requested that I need to provide a proof of reservation from an Accra hotel at least for the first night and that gave me a hint how to meet both these crazy requests. I have contacted a hotel in Accra, made a reservation and asked for the letter - it arrived promptly and was so officially looking that helping with this issue is clearly a normal thing in Ghana - in my visa application I provided the names of the hotel owner and his wife. We got our visa without problem after that.

The most difficult embassies abroad are currently Switzerland & S.Africa ... beware; they will demand a mountain of paperwork

I have a meeting tomorrow with senior govt. officials before leaving & am going to put this to them ... the situation is ridiculous & tourism is losing out!
