I'm planning a trip to Ghana in November, and it includes a few days on the Cape Coast. I'm considering the Coconut Grove Beach Resort or the Elmina Beach Resort in Elmina. I want to stay at the best accommodation possible. Can anyone recommend either of these two hotels based on personal experience?

Coconut grove is much nicer than Elmina Beach. Elmina Bay is better than both of them!

Hi There,

I've been to Ghana, I didn't stay at Coconut Grove Beach Resort but I did stay at Elmina Beach Resort. It is lovely, the staff were very helpful and the food was a great mix of internationally renowned food and local African cuisine. It has a great bar there and was very secure. It is a little bit out of the centre of town (Elmina) but if the crazy taxi rides don't bother you than that shouldn't be an issue! The beach is also a little polluted, but that's pretty standard anywhere in Ghana.

Just for the record also, Elmina Beach Resort is quite a way from actual Cape Coast. A very popular hot spot for tourists on Cape Coast is the Oasis beach resort.

You can check out my own interesting experiences in Ghana or if you have any questions about anything, just let me know!

Cheers,
Amanda

I'd go with Elmina Bay Resort. Coconut Grove is much more established, and the grounds are more lush - we've only had and heard of good experiences there, but Elmina Bay will give you more of a personal service.

Have a read of the respective reviews on Tripadvisor - should give you a lot of information!

Have a great trip

I was absolutely in love with Elmina Bay Resort. The beach is stunning and so empty. I've seen many beaches around the world, and this one is one of my top three favorite ones. The food's great, rooms comfy and spotlessly clean, and the owners very nice. For a few days we had the whole hotel just to ourselves.
