Just asking if anyone knows of any nice decent hotels or accommodation in Accra. Nice, fiendly, homely and not too expensive.
Much appreciated. Thanks

why are prices at this vila so expensive? does the price comes with food and a car, wow, thats ridicolous, i understand life is tough, but hello, these prices are not comparable. plus, ghanaians cannot make business like this, i mean, for a country with low average yearly income, how can one afford such prices. http://www.ghanavillas.com
its ok for the business person to make money, but to price this much is sounds a bit too greedy.
i wonder if its like that in other parts of accra. oh well, i guess expat will vacation else where. doesn't government or the tourism board, regulate these prices?
oh well!

Read this about ghanavillas,it was posted on tripadvisor;
We booked for aug 2009 a villa (villa 6) in Accra through www.ghanavillas.com
I found it already strange that all the reviews on that site were so positive and between 8 and 10, it looks very much that they made them theirselves.
The villa was far away from everything, on the mainroad (Spintex road) is often a big traffic jam so it can take at least 1-2 hours to get to the beach or another part of Accra.
We had almost every day no water and had to ask the guard to fix it, also no hot water or only dripping so it was hard to take a shower, also because you couldn't mix the cold and hot water.
The swimmingpool was full of mosquitos and couldn't be used because of that, the last days they cleaned and we used it once but the mosquitos appeared soon again in the water so we stayed out of it.
The kitchen had only a few utensils, too little for a family. The toiletpaper was often finished.
We were with 5 people but got only 2 or 3 towels a day, I asked the housekeeper everyday for more, but only the last days we got more. She was almost all the day there, but mostly sleeping in 1 of the bedrooms, I didn't see her once cleaning the floor of the livingroom.
At night there were a lot of mosquitos, one of us got afterwards malaria and had to go the hospital.
The last day we didn't get transport to the airport, although I paid 50 usd in advance for airporttransport and had reminded the manager the day before about it. In order to got our flight we had to hire 2 taxis and pay them ourselves.

Not sure now, plans have changed since I posted the question.
Any luck I'm hoping to go in the New year, may be February.

New Haven in Kokomlemle is quite good value and central. A double room is 25 $, with air conditionnig, it is clean and breakfast is included.
