Does anyone know what documents/evidence I'll need to provide to get a Ghanian visa at the High Commission in London?
(I've tried to find an online application form but haven't had much success - the one on the official website requires me to fill it out page by page and I don't really want to do this now)

As I understand it I need to provide contacts for two hotels - but I've heard from some people that you need to have hotels booked for the entire trip - is this the case when applying from London?

Anything else that i'll need to provide which may be a headache? (contact in Ghana etc)

Cheers

Try visa agencies such as Trailfinders. You can usually download the from from their site, and they are generally helpful and well informed about other requirements.

Applying in the USA (which may operate by different rules), I've been using a local friend as one of my contacts and a hotel as another. To my knowledge no one has ever checked.

Hope that's helpful.

The process in London really isn't very difficult - you'll need to fill in the one page form, and the main stumbling block (apologies for the terrible pun!) is the "two references". They ask for names and addresses on the form, but take note, you also have to provide phone numbers. You can just add them in the same box.

Other than that, you need to give them your passport and payment, as well as your photos. You need to do the form in duplicate as well.

It's all very easy though - I'd suggest sending (posting) the forms etc to them if you have time. Make sure you do registered delivery and enclose a registered delivery self addressed envelope for them to get everything back to you. If you go to the High Commission there is invariably a big queue... very time consuming process!

Will try and attach the form in private message..

Enjoy your trip!

I just copied details of 2 hotels from a guide book - I hadn't booked with either - and this was not queried.
No evidence of flights or anything was required, just the form, photos and money.
I applied in person at the High Commission, and don't remember having to wait particularly long, but it was 2 years ago, maybe busier now.

Thanks for the replies all.
@Kaz - that's interesting that they didnt require evidence of the flights - you didn't need to put down your ticket number?

I'd always thought I needed to book the flight first - which I wasn't really happy with....would be an obvious nightmare if my visa was rejected!

Well, it was 2 years ago, and my memory is hazy, but I too usually prefer to get the visa before booking the flights. Definitely didn't need to prove anything though, not even 'sufficient funds'!

I think they changed it mid-June of this year to an online application form. It takes a bit of searching but there is an official website with visa stuff on. I just printed off the form (end of May this year), filled it out in duplicate I think, passport photos, copy of my flight and send it off. I made up the amount of money in my bank account and left the references blank. Got back a multiple entry visa within 10 days. My friend went in person, paid more, and instead of the multiple entry she paid for got a single. Maybe it's better by post?!

Hey all

I am also looking into the ghana Visa process from the UK. I have struggled to get any clear information from the Ghana embassy homepage. Have booked flights for the end of October.

Can someone confirm that the following link takes me to a valid up todate visa form?

http://www.visas2go.co.uk/forms/ghana_visa_form.pdf

Has any one got any idea what financial means would appropriate to put down for a 2 week holiday?

Thanks in advance

Hi all,

Wondering will the high commission in London grant a visa to a Canadian? I do not live in The U.K. It is just the most convenient place to get the visa along my travel route. I have tried to call and email in both Canada and the U.K. But never get an answer! If anyone knows I would appreciate the answer! I really don't want to fly back to Canada!
