Does anyone know if Ghana is or is NOT granting tourist visas to US citizens? I heard they may not be as of January of this year but want to confirm. Does Ghana have a consulate in Morocco I could check with? I cannot find an address. Would it be better to try to get a visa at their Bamako branch?

US Department of State consular sheet for Ghana. No issues noted.
Embassy of Ghana (Washington) visa information. No issues noted.
Possible Rabat embassy locations and phone details are in several spots. Here are a few: one, two, three and four.
I'd be interested to hear of any changes.

Chris, since 1st January 2011 they've denied visas to all unless you are resident in W.Africa; there's a massive thread about it whether you're a US citizen or not!

Hi Kira--that's rather a different question than OP was asking about. But it's too bad there is no mention of an issue on the DoS page. Anyway, as I look through the threads there seem to be plenty of people who get through with an explanation of one sort or another.

Well getting plenty of PM's about it here ... luckily got a 2yr one issued just before December
The Ghanaian authorities are getting ridiculous, there was also a new tax levied on tourism businesses, really hitting hotels hard late last year - it seems they want to kill off any tourism. Some around the west coast have shut up & given their premises over to the new mining companies. I'm currently organising a conference in Accra & people are overly keen to get the business it seems.
The OP was corresponding on a different thread about exactly the same matter, I was suggesting finding the visa in Morocco prior to going south ...

Where is this massive thread? I see mentions here and there on TT, but can't find any detailed info ... I won't be heading to Ghana until April 2012 but I'd like to know what's going on.
