Flight research for one way tickets out of Accra, Ghana

I just wanted to share my experience with buying a one way ticket out of Accra. I have been searching for a one way ticket from Accra to NYC (I got sucked into Ghana for 8 months and that is a whole other topic.) So, this is what Ive been finding so far.

This information is for Sept/ Oct dates. Tickets are Ranging 935 - 2000 USD. Im seeing two cheap routes. Accra - Casablanca - JFK. (Royal Air Morac) and Accra - Cairo - JFK (Egypt Air), Both are under 1000 USD. I found another cheap route flying from Accra - London -JFK. This requires buying two tickets. I have been using Jetabroad.com for my searches. I like them because they allow you to take advantage of stopover points. I can extend my stopover point days or weeks without changing my ticket price. I have decided to Take the Casablanca route so I can take the train down to Marakech for a few days. Just wanted to share my experience. Im sure there are other ideas....

Be aware that Royal Air Maroc has many bad reviews. Egyptair is more or less the same price than RAM and they have better reviews. Some travel agencies also show Turkish Airways under 1000 U.S. dollars (although others quote slightly more than 1000) but it's roughly 80 dollars more expensive than RAM.

Thank you. My only reservation about flying through Cairo is the 12 hour through the night layover. But I could extend it and see the pyramids...Cheers

If you are in Accra I would recomend you go to some fo the airline offices in person. I have found that they usually offer better rates especially for one way. In the past Ailtalia has offered some of the best rates. Check with united and delta now too since they have direct flight to JFK, see if they have an underbooked flight they would be willing to make a deal on with you.

Also if that does not pan out, go visit my partners at M and J travel right before you reach Osu circle as you are comming from ring road, they might be able to work something out for you too.

Usually web searches are not the best way to find one way tickets, this is something where it often pays to get someone of the flesh and blood on the case for you.

I went ahead and went down to the local offices of the Airlines (an all day affair). One way and RT about the same in price. I went ahead and tried the service asaptickets.com. I ended up getting a one way From Accra to Sacramento for 900.00. Flights have been confirmed.

Thanks for putting in your thoughts. Im finding that flying out of Accra is an expensive city to fly out of. I ended up getting a flight with Brussels Airlines to Brussels and then switching there. I've learned a lot looking this stuff up...
