Hi all,

I'll be visiting Ghana with my parent and brother in August. We'd like to spend a few days chilling out by a nice beach as most of our time will be spent visiting family in Accra. Has anyone stayed at Busua or Dixcove? Can you recommend a nice (but not too expensive) place to stay?

We'll also be going to Kakum National Park - what is the best way to get there from Accra?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

www.busuainn.com - great place, fantastic food! Alternatively to really chill out try their other place with a beach that won't kill you as it's set in a bay www.ezilebay.com

I like Ezile Bay also. Cheap, relaxed--even the sea is mellow. See if you can get Jacob started telling stories (not difficult). Note, however, that the facilities there are fairly basic.

Kakum is halfway between Accra and Busua. Turn off at Cape Coast. Stay in Elmina, Cape Coast or at Hans Cottage. Details in any guidebook.

Jacob is not running it as much anymore ..but glad there's another TT'er that appreciates Ezile Bay, the beach makes for it, compared with others down the coast which are on the ocean & have the problem of serious currents making swimming a nightmare/potentially fatal!!!

Agree with the above recommendations and advice. I just want to add that there is no formal accomodation in Dixcove at the moment--and no beach, just a (typically filthy) fishing harbor.

Hey Kira, what's happened to Jacob? I hope any adjustments were smooth and inoffensive to all.

The best chilling out is Busia beach - Alaska bar, just on the beach. For more quite place follow my friend Kira. One day I have to check this ezilsomething aswell, promis Kira.
Forget Dixcove, nothing there, just if you want to continue towards a really nice Green turtle beach.
The best way to get to Kakum is your privat car, but if not available use STC transport from Accra and change to taxi in Cape Coast. TIP - hire some nama nama taxi in Cape Coast for the whole day for a fixed price.

Kira, didn't you tell me you 'don't do Ghana'? So you are implying you're going to visit again soon....

It should be emphasized that Ezile Bay, while nice, won't be for everyone as the accommodations are very basic.
