Has anyone ever stayed at Brenu Beach Resort near Elmina? How was it in terms of price, beach/water, proximity of a town, getting back to Accra?
Any info would be very welcome, thanx!

Visited Brenu last year last time. probably one of the nicest beaches but since Agnes (the founder) married and left the place for his son the quality of everything went down. So this time I would recommend to pass by, have one or two beers and went back to Accra. Consider to spend time on Anobabo beach which is just before Cape Coast.

What a shame that the place is not longer as wonderful as it was. I stayed there in 1998 and in 2001 and loved it. Always think of it as the nicest beach in Ghana, but things must have changed

Yes Mokum I ment Anomabo. I agree with LizaD that Brenu is the best beach in Ghana, but the service is no more like between 1995-2002. Understand it the way that it is still within the limits but not like before.
Another good beach is Mia Mia after Takoradi and Green Turtle around Dixcove. For getting drunk visit Busua.

The best of all of them is either Ko-sa Beach Resort which is in the same village as Brenu. The food is quite possibly the best in Ghana (aside from Green Turtle's). The room rate seems high (in Jan 22 for a double room), but you actually save more if you take into account the cost of vehicles going the extra distance to Green Turtle or anywhere past Takoradi. You go exactly as you're going to Brenu but tell the share taxi driver Kosa, instead--you don't go quite all the way into the village.
All the best.
Um, and the fish in curry sauce or lobster in garlic tomato sauce are worth it...so are the yam balls...and pancakes....

thanx for you replies!
I will be going on an overland tour from Accra to Timbouctou and back again. The last stop before Accra will be Brenu Beach and I would like some extra days at the beach to relax. But good to know there are alternatives to BB, in case it's not as nice as I hoped it would be

Hi guys , keep going to Brenu Beach , the beautiful beach will always be there even though the lodge service has changed, Its just because there is no competition in terms of B&B's , But as a native of Brenu Akyinim am almost about to finish my B&B around that same place ,and with my international exposure in hotel industry I think you guys will be happy to be around again . It will be completed by the end of the year. Thanks for being open
