Our two oldest children are currently having a fabulous experience volunteering in Ghana. We will be joining them in July for one month and bringing our other two children with us to help build a latrine in a village. We would like to spend our last 2 or days at a nice place with a swimable beach before heading home. Any suggestions? We would like to be within 2 - 3 hours of Accra.

A safe swimable beach, especially with children, is not easily found in Ghana. The curents can be very strong. But you could consider Anamabu Beach resort (mentioned in the Bradt Guide to Ghana). It is just this side of Cape Coast, so it is at the limit of your 2-3 hours from Accra. But the beach is safer than most, and there is a life guard on duty all day. It is also a well run and attractive place.

An option for a nice beach and cool accommodation can be Busua, of course a bit more than 2 to 3 hours from Accra. But the beach is really great, the sea a bit more quiet than most of the coast and you can stay at Busua Inn for quite a reasonable price. The owner also have a more basic beach resort at a place called Ezile Bay, which is even cheaper and the sea also very quiet. You can get information by visiting their website: http://www.busuainn.com/ and http://ezilebay.com/
Enjoy your stay in Ghana!

We have a guest house in Nungua, a suburb of Accra. We are across the street from the ocean and a 5 minute walk to a nice beach and/or public swimming pool.

Sounds like a great family trip! Good advice from the guys above, but dependent on your budget and method of travel there's Elmina Bay resort (a bit more high end) just outside Elmina, and us (more of an eco beach lodge but very relaxing) just next door. Check out the websites for us both (ours is www.stumbleinnghana.com) and then you can get to see some of the history and culture of Cape Coast and Elmina as well.

If we can help in any way, or if you just want some more travel information feel free to give us a call or drop us an email..

Have a great trip!

Go to Kokrobite less than 45 minutes from Accra. I dont know how the beach is today but at Big Millys you can
relax a few daies in a nice surrounding. Its owned by Wendy a English lady and Seto a Ghanian. It was a wonderful place and hope
it still is.
