Your question is really too broad. I'd suggest buying a guide book, reading it, and then asking some more specific questions about specific places. That way you'll get the best advice.

I agree - so much to see and do! If you have the whole time to explore you could go round most of Ghana and get all the highlights visited. Also depends on how much you want to travel and what you are interested in of course... Definitely visit Cape Coast, and Elmina though for the history and culture. Kumasi is not to be missed either, and Mole for the wildlife.

Volta region is lovely in August, go there a bit earlier and you might catch mangoes still on the trees! (I seemed to just miss them).
