Hi,

A friend and I are looking to do a 2 - 3 day trek in the Simien Mountains in mid May. We were referred by a post on this board to Alex Alebachew as a good tour guide, who provides a great trip. Alex quoted us $520 for 3 days 2 night trek for 2 people. This seems like a lot for the amount of time we will be trekking. It does include the journey from Gondar but feels hard to justify such a price. From other posts I have seen I get the impression other people have reached the same decision.

I have not read too much about Ethiopia biking. We tell you our plan briefly and present three questions if someone could help us to clarify them!

Our plan is flying to Mekele from Addis and next, go south to Weldiya, then Lalibela, and then Gonder to finish with 2-3 days trekking. Grrrrrrr, niiice. Our doubts are these ones:

• First, nothing related with bikes...We had the idea of going from Mekele to Danakil with tour operator in 4-5 days, but travel agency doesn’t recommend us…

I assume that skybus and selambus leave from the main bus station but if not please correct me

Has anyone visited the villages around Konso. The LP guide says that children can be a problem and the farangi frenzy is in full effect. I was also wondering what the cost is to visit these villages. Do you have to pay a village admission fee and then another fee to enter individual compounds? Someone told me you even have to pay parking!
