Shiro bozena

I brought a bag of shiro from Ethiopia and want to Cook shiro bozena following this video recipe. The video is in Amharic.
Does anyone know what the ingredients in the rectangular dishes are (at 0:30)?. I can surely recognise salt and possibly the last one looking like grated ginger. But, what are the remaining two ingredients (the black and green ones) - what can I use as a substitute?

Hi,

We're looking at visiting Ethiopia from March 27 to April 4, and since we have so little time, we're looking at tour companies. They are seem a bit on the high side, and Green Land Tours at 150 a day seems to be the cheapest. Anybody has any suggestions?

Thanks,

Hi,

I would like to know how many days you need to see the Omo-valley. I have two options:

  1. 8 days with a private guide who's recommended here. The trip would be tailermade for me. But expensive because I travel solo. Unless I find fellow travellers to join the tour. (In which I didn't succeed so far...)

  2. 6 days with another recommended private guide. I would join a small group of 2 people. The costs would be half of the first option. But 6 days seems quite short...

Hopefully someone can…

We recently went to the Bale Mountains. I love the Lonely Planet guide book, but for the Bale Mountains we had some confusion.
All the different locations are spread REALLY far apart. You will need to have transportation to get from the headquarters in Dinsho, to the Sanetti Plateau, and then again to the Harenna Forest. I believe it's about 100km from place to place. The park is split up into sections, so it is not a contiguous park.

It was wonderful staying at the Sanetti Campsite, but it is…

If you are looking for a great guide to the Lower Omo Valley, contact Fitretu Getachew at fitretu@yahoo.com . We used him and had a great experience. One that I would say is as authentic as possible, being a white Faranji. He is originally Hamar, but now is based out of Addis. His price is reasonable, he works hard to accomodate. He does hire a local guide from each village, which is included in the original cost, and gets you in to the villages being the least disruptive to the people. We also…

Hi,

the German Foreign travel advice tells readers that the WHO has told Ethiopia to encourage travellers staying in Etiopia for more than 4 weeks to make a Polio vaccination before they leave the country: http://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/DE/Laenderinformationen/00-SiHi/AethiopienSicherheit.html

Has anybody information on this topic, especially if it might me compulsory?

Thanks

Could someone recommend a budget place to stay in Lalibela. Don't need much, just a clean place with a bath attached with a good location not far from the churches and some restaurants.
thanks

Hey there,

I m a journalist who live in Amsterdam. From 5th of February, I will start a trip in Ethiopia with a friend of mine for 12 days. During this trip, we would like to visit remote tribes in Omo valley for 6 days. I m contacting few guides now, anyone wanna share a car with us ? 4 of us would make this trip much cheaper! I guess the price will be 100-150 $ per day for including everything.

The time period would be 5th-10th, if not fit in your schedule, we could also do it around…

I was on a business trip to Ethiopia for 2 weeks last September. I had a very few precious days to spare outside work and was quite discouraged when I started reading about the time it takes to visit Omo. Everyone who I spoke to advised that 5-6 days is the minimum if I wanted to really enjoy the region. Unfortunately I didn't have that luxury, but kept researching anyways. I knew that there were many options for guides and many of them were hit or miss. Eventually I stumbled upon a review on…
