Hi guys, im still trying to figure out my shedule traveling from Hargeisa to Khartoum.
since my time is limited and it´s such a long way to go from Somalialand to Sudan im thinking about to fly that way.
Im wondering if i would need a visa if im only in Transit in Addis Abeba waiting for my connecting flight (also with Ethiopian Airlines) to Khartoum? i guess in this case i dont need a visa for Ehiopia, is that correct?
i already have my visa for Sudan.

The only bad thing about flying is that i would miss Harar and Lalibela in Ehtiopia. and i guess this are really nice and intersting places to visit. but i dont know if i could make it in time there. i would have only around 3-6 days till i have to be in Khartoum (from Somalialand). that is a very short time, i think

  • it would be good for my planing to know if the visa for ethiopia would still cost 20 dollar at the embassy in djibouti or if they also increased the price for this? if sb know please let me know asap. I have german passport.

thanks a lot guys. safe traveles

Yes, transit passengers do not need a visa. Make sure your luggage is checked in all the way to Khartoum. The visa-on-arrival in Addis is now $50. I do not know the cost of the visa at the embassy.

You don't need a transit visa if you stay in the international area (transit area) and don't leave it or pass the immigration.

You can see a lot in Ethiopea when you have 3-6 days for your trip from Somaliland to Sudan.

Easly you can take shared taxi from Hargeshia to the border with Ezhiopia. Then minibus to Jijiga and another to Harar. You will be there early afternoon. Spend 24 hours in Harar.
day 2. afternoon take minibus to Dire Dawa and then fly with the last plane to Addis Abeba.
day 3 fly to Sudan

If you have 3 more days then you can fly in and out from Lalibela quite easly. Most package tours stay there ewen shorter
