Hello,.
From Ethiopian Airlines website, it seems easy to fly from Arba Minch via Addis Abeba to Dire Dawa (departure 15:45 from Arba Minch, change plane in AA, arriving 19:15 i Dire Dawa). However, suggsetions from many different tour companies wants us to drive to Addis Abeba (long way!), stay overnight, and fly to Dire Dawa next morning. Any reason for this? Is the airport in Arba Minch functioning normally? Reliabel?

hi,
the airport in Arbaminchi is functional normally .i think the tour companies recommend you to drive is that to see the landscape of Ethiopia and to visit historical and world heritage sites on the way .

And to pay 150$ a day for their vehicles...they only get 5% commission for a flight booking.
|Arba Minch airport is also used for drones attacking Somalia......................but dont let that worry you..........

I just spent 8 days driving around some parts of the south and can say that the Arba Minch to Addis drive was the least scenic leg of the journey - excepting an hour or so leaving Arba Minch - which you see on the way in anyway. Maybe we took a more direct and less scenic route, but next time I'd fly!
