Hi all,

I'm planning on doing a 4 day tour with ETT to the Danakil Depression and they have requested a 30% deposit to be paid into a bank account in Addis. Is this normal? Has anybody else had experience of this and was it all ok?

Yes, this is normal. I did the same thing for my 4-day tour in the Danakil with ETT, and everything was fine. I paid the balance when I got into Addis, and they picked me up from the airport and took me to their office so I didn't have to walk around town with hundreds of dollars.

I haven't used ETT myself, but they certainly have been around quite some time and are a bona fide company, if that is any comfort.
