Hello,
I am planning my itinerary for an 8 week holiday in East Africa.
Does anyone know what the best route from Ethiopia (Omo valley) to Kenya (Lamu) is? As I am heading South, it makes more sense to do the Northern circuit in Ethiopia first, and then travel South to the Omo valley. Was hoping to find a way to head straight down to Kenya rather than having to back track to Addis. Is that possible?

Thanks!
Sabrina

No you don't have to go back to Addis from the Lower Omo - just back to Konso and then to Yabelo which is on the main road to Moyale, the border with Kenya. However if you wait a few years you may be able to go by train!...........

Kenya, East Africa’s biggest economy, will begin building a second port at Lamu in February 2010 as part of a project estimated at USD 22 billion, said Transport Minister Chiaru Ali Mwakwere. “The port of Lamu will be bigger than Mombasa,” Mwakwere told reporters. The project includes the construction of a railway line, a highway linking Lamu to the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa, Juba in neighboring Southern Sudan and Kigali, Rwanda, and three airports, the transport ministry said on April 2. Three resort cities will also be built at Lamu, Isiolo and Lake Turkana in northern Kenya, it said.
