Me and my BF Jelle are playing with the idea of going to Ethiopia next winter. Can someone tell me something about the travel cost in the country? How much do you need a day? We like to travel on a budget but not on a really tight one!

The best time to Travel Ethiopia is between October through to March.
Travelling budget and that means taking public transport, eating local food and staying at budget digs you can easily get by on USD30 a day.
Northern Etiopia is easily done independently but the south requires a tour or lots of time to get an onward truck or bus.
#1: The threadstarter hasn't asked for a tour operator! Out of your 11 postings 6 are advertising this operator you eagerly mention again and again. For my taste it's enough to certainly avoid them.
Also I read far too much immensely stupidly wily and sneaky self-advertisement for southetiopia in this forum, which therefore also should be avoided! By the way, I wouldn't hesitate to even open an own thread to mention it, so that more people can read it.

I traveled on approx. $25/day last year, but I'm not sure what you consider a "really tight" budget. I was not totally scrimping (I usually ate 3 meals per day and had a private bath in most, but not all, hotels). I think it's possible to go even lower, but those super-budget reports might have been too old to be valid.
This budget covered the northern circuit Harar TESFA trek. It seems like you need to raise the budget if you want to visit the Omo Valley.
