Hi,
i will travel to Ethiopia next week and i will arrive at the International Airport of Addis Abeba in the night (01.10 a.m.). I would take the first flight to Gondar (7.40 a.m.). On the Ethiopian airlines website the cost of the ticket is 150 €. Do you know maybe how much it would cost directly at the airport? There is an Ethiopian airline's office at the airport which is open 24 h? Do you think that i will find a seat or is better i book it in advance by website?
Thank you all!
Marty

In my experience the cost of a ticket at an Ethiopian airlines office is a little bit (100 ETB?) more expensive then the price quoted on their website. If i'm correct, you're arriving with Turkish Airlines so you don't get 'the discount'. So I don't see any reason not to book the ticket online. You should reconfirm your trip the day before at an Ethiopian Airlines office (by phone probably...). But if you don't book the 7:40 flight and you find it full, there's still two other flights that day.

The international terminal in Addis is very quiet at night and you're not allowed in again once you're out. Maybe others can inform you about the domestic terminal but I'm guessing they open up 2 hours before the first flight. The domestic terminal is a short walk. There's a small Ethiopian Airlines office in the domestic terminal. Are you planning to stay at the airport for the night?

Personally I would book a room and take the afternoon flight :)

There is another airline now - TNA, which I believe is much cheaper than Ethiopian. Search through the threads here on the Ethiopia branch. There are a few posts.

I agree. If you do not fly Ethiopian, you do not get the discount. So, you could buy the ticket over the internet.

So far on here u have a mixture of truth and muddle...I appreciarte folk are trying to be helpful...
FACTS.
1. You only get the discount on Ethiopian domestic flights IF you fly in on Ethiopian. SO IF u r on Turkish it will cost as on website......BUT if you book it you have a seat.
IF you are on a non Ethiopian flight you save nothing by booking at the airport.... where in theory there is a ticket office open 24/7...in the departure area of Terminal 2.
2. True there is now a second domestic operator , TNA, but they only fly to Gondar on Mondays and Fridays....
BUT at $60 single for everybody.......
IF you are arriving Mon or Friday book TNA through ETT on ethiopiatravel@gmail.com
For more info....
Feel free to message me on TA forum ... where i am addisadvisor
