Any experience with Addis Guesthouses that would be appropriate for a long-term stay (im talking 6 months or so). I do not wish to bother with an apartment and leases and the sort; but some cooking facilities would be nice, and I would like to be around other travelers/socially, and be relatively centrally located. Any places in Addis fit this bill? Thanks.

Not sure about long-term accommodation with kitchen facilities, but the Taitu hotel in Addis is a very homely place to stay with different types of rooms at different prices. They have a restaurant, and there are other restaurants nearby. Restaurant food is very cheap in Ethiopia, even in Addis Ababa. When I was there for 2.5 weeks late last year there were plenty of people who stayed for as long or longer. It is set in a compound, so you get away from all of the hassle of the street - if you are tired of the hassle there is everything you need within the compound of the hotel so you dont have to go 'outside'.
