My girlfriend and I only have 8 days in Egypt in late summer and are looking for ideas on our itinerary. We'd like to see as much as we can and are ok traveling to new cities daily. We want to end up at Sharm for some beach and diving but nothing is firm. Here's what we're thinking:
Day 1 and 2: Cairo
Flight/Overnight Train to Luxor
Day 3-4: Luxor
Flight/Train to Aswan
Day 5: Aswan (maybe a day trip to Abu Simbel)
Flight to Sharm
Day 6-8: Sharm
Too crazy?
We were thinking about going to Marsa Alam (you may have seen my post/question on it), but Al Quseir is closer from Luxor (where we're coming from) and closer to Hurghada (flying back to Cairo). Has anyone been there? Anyone know how to get there from Luxor? Public bus or hire a taxi? We could fly to Hurghada, but with check-in times and the stopover in Cairo, it seems that will take longer than just driving there. Any budget accommodations? I've looked up the Flamenco via their website…
Hello..
i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where the cheapest one-way flight from Sharm to Rome could be found. I have contacted a travel consultant and the cheapest one-way flight from Jordan to Rome was $900 per person. The flights were operated by Alitalia and Egypt Air.
Is this a standard amount for this flight or is there another carrier or website that I could find a cheaper ticket..
Thanks for your help...
Hi all!
We are two American students that will be traveling to Egypt in August, specifically 4 days in Cairo between 30 July-2 August and 3 days in Luxor between August 3-5. It would be nice to find like-minded, young, curious, "non-typical" and adventurous tourists to share costs with on tours and private guides to off the beaten track locations.
Some ideas include unexplored sections of Cairo and the City of the Dead, and Sohag + surrounding villages just north of Luxor in the Nile Valley…
Ok Egypt is the most likely for my next trip. (Tossing up with Turkey and Greece). I'm wondering what time of year you all think is the best. It will definitely not be in June/July or August as I hear the heat is oppressive. I'm leaning towards February as I'd prefer to avoid the xmas/new year crowds. Want to include the desert - so if you had to chose one desert trip which would it be and should it be with a group? I am a single mature female backpacking.
Hi Everyone,
I am headed to Cairo for two days and am wondering what places i should visit. I figured both days i would wake up early in the morning and rent a taxi and visit as much as i can. Can someone tell me what the best places to visit on day 1 and day 2 in Cairo. I was also wondering if anyone knew of a good tour guide.
As for Luxor I figured i would do the same or maybe go with a guide just wondering what people would do with 2 days in Luxor.
Thanks T
I'm a British passport holder and I'm going to Egypt in around 2 weeks' time. I'll be staying for around 3 weeks this trip.
I'd like to go on a one-way ticket from the UK, but I seem to remember having hassle over this about 10 yrs ago at Heathrow and having to get a visa at Heathrow costimg twice the price it was in Cairo. The situation may have changed now.....so my question is...Will I be able to get the usual tourist visa at Cairo airport on arrival, or will there be questions about my…
Hello,
Just wondering if anyone has opinions on the New Palace Hotel in Cairo or another hostel which has a roof terrace. I'm staying for three weeks in August whilst studying in Zamalek- quite a trek away- so I'd like a good hostel. My biggest plus is somewhere with a roof terrace but I'd also like somewhere with hot water, reasonably clean, communal areas and staff who don't hassle you to go on tours. I found the New Palace on google and it's my first choice. Please let me know if you have…
