Hi,
Does anyone could tell me the daily train times from Aswan to Luxor? I have read different things about that:
- LP guide: daily trains at 6:00, 18:00 and 20:00
- http://www.seat61.com/Egypt.htm: more train times (at 7:30 for example, which it would fit my schedule).

Apart from that, is it possible to reserve train tickets through the offcial website of the Egyptian Railways? (under construction, at the moment).

I'm doing some research for a friend/colleague who will be traveling to Egypt on an archeological project in the Spring. I was in Egypt several times -- most recently, almost 15 years ago -- but aside from any foray into an international-style hotel (Intercontinental, Hilton, Marriott), I never saw any alcohol. Are there any liquor stores in Egypt where people (or Westerners) can buy liquor? Are there any local establishments -- owned by Egyptian people -- that can (legally?) sell liquor?

Dear all, just returned from Egypt, ok I went to Hurghada but went to Luxor and Cairo for the day. Hated Hurghada but really enjoyed Luxor and absolutely loved Cairo. Now I cannot wait to go back. I'm looking for the cheapest way really from the UK to Alexandria. I live up north so Manchester would be easier but I could find my way to London. Any help would be most welcome, the cheapest I can find at the moment is around £350-£400. I was looking to fly out around the 8/9 Feb.

There seems to be a lot of talk on this thread about the cost of airline tickets to Egypt. Just curious, I cant believe that most of us posters dont look for the best rate. To those who have just gone, or have tickets to go approx. what are you paying and where did you find the rate. Im curious from the US, but also to those from cities within Europe. Thanks.

Hello everyone

we are a couple visiting Egypt in early December and welcome advice on what to wear so as not to cause offence and to be comfortable.

We will be in Luxor, Aswan area and on the Red Sea Coast at Hurghada which we expect will not be so, well, Egyptian! Only there 2 nights for flights as the reason for going to Egypt is to see the country not just resorts.

I've just read on another thread someone says it is now too cold to wear sandals, any comments?

Any help and advice is very welcome…

Hi all. I will be in Dahab/Red Sea area of the Sinai, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel between 21 Nov an 3 Dec...before going to Cairo for a couple night prior to my departure for Paris on 5 Dec.

Anyone else around those parts at that time? I am up for some beach time/snorkling in Dahab, some temple visits and Falucca on the Nile in the Aswan/Luxor area. Pretty flexible on what to do and see.
