I have never been to Egypt but love snorkelling and am hoping to go soon. 2 hotels I am considering are the Hilton Shark Bay and the Hyatt Regency but am not sure which has the best reef. Is the Hyatt reef the Far Garden reef? This is supposed to be particularly good I've read. The Sharm Plaza looks interesting and is next to the Far reef but was put off to hear they have a new nightclub. Didnt want to be kept awake till 2.00 am when it closes!! any info re the above would be gratefully…

…Hi
I am contemplating taking a cruise from Aswan to Esna on a Dahabiyya. I have found two companies that seem to offer the trip I would like. The problem is obviously the cost. I will be travelling alone and would need to pay a single occupancy supplement as well. I will be travelling right at the end of May. The lonely planet books says that it is best to organise this type of trip before leaving. However, would it be a sensible idea to try and book when I get there with the hope of getting a…
Hi travellers!
In March, I'm going to tavel to Egypt and I'm staying there for nine days. I'm a little worried because it's known that Egypt is a country for Nile cruises and organised tours. I want to do it as a solo and independent traveller and my friends are telling me that I'm wrong to do it this way. What do you think about it? I have read a lot of information at this point and I'm confused so I'm posting here to know about your opinion, information and recommendations.
A questions for…
So, Alexandria Library has a very very strange policy regarding bags.
You can walk in with cameras, wallets, bottles of water, the kitchen sink..... but not in a bag. Of any size.
I recommend you carry a pashmina with you so you can check in your bag (outside) and throw everything into a sling.
Silly non-sensical policy that it is!
Oh, and it seems to be opening at 11am now.

Hi all,
Shooting a 3 year tv series in Africa. Each country for 3 weeks, starting with Egypt. Our producer wants to know the situation on buying a car in either Egypt or Sudan. His reason for asking is that we know about the (roughly) 500 USD ferry to get from Egypt to Sudan, and if a car is significantly cheaper in Sudan, it makes sense to hold out on a car until we get to Sudan to avoid the ferry charge.
1) Are cars cheaper to buy in Egypt rather than Sudan?
2) I realize this is a pending…
