I arrive into Cairo at 8:55pm on June 30. I've been reading up on the planned protests and this looks like a pretty bad idea. Anyone know more about how safe it will be to spend the night in Cairo? I was planning on hitting up Dahab so I could always see Cairo on my way back home 2 weeks later.

There are flights to Sharm el Sheikh at 10:45pm that night and 4:45am the next morning that I'm considering. Any advice on what to do?

Thanks.

Does anyone have any information about booking a liveaboard dive trip to the Southern Routes in the Red Sea DIRECTLY through a company in Egypt? All the on-line companies are international/mostly Uk-based companies and very expensive. Surely its possible to book a cheaper directly through their Egyptian sub-contractors in-county? Any ideas?

Can anyone recommend a company which does boat tours on the Nile?

I'm thinking the usual tour between Aswan, Luxor, Kom Ombo etc. for about 3-4 days.

I'm arranging flights and hotel on my own, so that won't be necessary.

Hi,

I'm planning a trip to Egypt, but am not yet sure when it will take place - probably next spring (March-April) or fall (October-November), with an outside chance of being this fall. I'll probably only have two weeks. My general sense of what I'd see is: Pyramids at Giza, Aswan (and Abu Simbel and/or Philae), felucca or cruise on the Nile, Luxor, and the Western Desert circuit. I'd like to be able to see in Saqqara and Dahshur, and Wadi al-Hitan (Whale Valley), but in the time I have that…

I'm going to Egypt from October 20th the 28th, I want to see a lot of sites, and take a cruise on the nile. Do I need to do a tour? I've been looking at lots of tours but they are all expensive and I feel like they might just be overpriced to take advantage of tourism but I don't know. I'm not very keen on traveling in Egypt by myself. I don't mind traveling by myself but I have never traveled outside the country by myself. Any advice?

Just contacted a guide who was recommended on this sight. For a tour that starts at 7:30 am and final drop off is at 8:00pm for the train , includes the sight admissions and a car. We are going to quickly cover the pyramids and see as much of islamic and coptic cairo as possible as well.Like i said a long day. price is 50$ p.p....sound ok ?

Hi there,
We are going to Egypt quite soon and were recommended eco lodge Basata, however reading some reviews online I've got a bit of a mix feeling about this place. Quite a lot of people commented how dirty the kitchen was, terrible food with no much choice and overpraised in comparison to other places in the area. Apparently the owners openly don't allow any Israeli into their camp either, which sounds racist to me and not sure if I want to give my £££s to someone with such views...

I'd…

Can anybody please give me any advice on how long it takes to obtain a visa from the Egyptian Consulate in Eilat?
I am a New Zealand citizen and I will be visiting Egypt and then crossing into Jordan and Israel and then need to get back to Cairo for my flight to London.
How much do they cost?
Is it possible to get a multiple entry visa when I first arrive into Egypt and use this to come back after visiting Israel?
I understand that at the Taba border crossing, they only issue you with the Sinai area…
