Hi all. I have a 10 day tour planned with Expat Travel for August. In light of the current terrorist threats, government warnings and Tunisia attacks I'm feeling pretty apprehensive about going. Has anyone got an upcoming trip to Egypt planned which they still intend on going through with? or has anyone been recently that can shed some light on the safety of the country? We begin the tour in Cairo then on to Aswan, Luxor, Hurgada and back to Cairo. I still really want to go however a part of me is saying to cancel. Help!?

The situation is what it is....there is a small risk.A. higher risk from terrorism than in most parts of the world. ..yes.
Hundreds of thousands of tourists are still going to Egypt,and the vast majority have no problems at all...

Not to make you feel bad,but remember that the risk of dying in a car or bus accident is far higher than that of being killed by terrorists.
That is the same all over the world,not only in Egypt....

I was there in April and never felt the need for any special precaution. I'd say you have far, far, far more chance of heat-related problems in upper (southern) Egypt during August than any terror-related incident.

i was in egypt in february for 3 weeks and felt very safe (and loved it). but yes, there is a higher risk of terrosism than in other parts of the world. even if there is a terrorist attack, the risk that you will be at the wrong place, at the wrong time, is very small. its your choice really. personally, i would travel back to egypt tommorow. but i wouldnt advice my brother to go there with my nieces.

Concerning Egypt there is all the time the risk of terrorist attacks. Some minor attacks take place all the time and the media doesn't tell anything about them. I've been to Egypt several times and even lived in Cairo, terrorist attacks have taken place before my trips, after my trips and when I've been there.
Sorry, but nobody else can decide on behalf of you.... there is always the risk... only you can decide if you take it or not.
