Hello! I´m going to dahab in late october/early november. I´m hoping to be able to take an open water dive course,. I have checked around somewhat, and I want to stay and dive in the same place. I have narrowed it down to either 7 heaven or penguine village. Anyone have somethings to say about theese places? 7 heaven is a bit less expensive, but I´m willing to pay more if its worth it. Can't tell you anything about 7 Heaven, but I stayed at Penguin and did the Open Water course and loved it. My instructor was Ahmed, who was ace. Penguin's got a really nice atmosphere: really chilled out, friendly staff who love to chat, good mix of other travellers. The roof terrace is amazing, especially if you fancy staying up to watch the sun rise over Saudi Arabia. I had a brilliant time there.
If you're looking to save a bit of money the best way is to pick your eating places carefully: it's a lot cheaper in the town away from the beachfront. Buying your water from the supermarket across the road instead of the restaurant at Penguin is also a good idea.
