im in cairo now and thinking since four days how I will leave the city in direction to sudan, my options are following the nil, or which is more dangerous of course but also more adventure, taking the oasis route through the black and withe dessert.

has anyone experience with this route maybe also on bike? I would like to hear from some experiences about this route, also concerning water, other problems etc. pp.
im just a beginner with such bike tours, but not silly and really good knowing where my borders are, so please dont tell me that i can forget about...

waiting for answers and giving thanks for interest.

You should be able to google the distances between the oasis towns - there is almost nothing in between except for occasional police check points. If the distances sound OK you should be fine - long empty roads which would be nice to cycle. Obviously allow for problems when working out your water quota - it can be extremely hot depending on the time of year.

It will be good training for Sudan which also has many miles of long empty desert roads!

I agree that the Nile road wouldn't be pleasant.
