Need to buy a backpack in Cairo

There used to be a market at the back exit of the main train station, selling all sort of army surplus stuff including cool backpacks. Not sure if it still exists, but its only a short metro ride away from midan Tahrir in case you stay nearby. :-)

This might be helpful, its a guide to all the shops in Cairo. U can search for places that sell backpack get their phone number and mops and stuff. Plus if ur travelling Jeeran will help u in finding restaurants and all places anyways.
