This winter I will be cycling from Cairo to Capetown. I wanted to know if it is possible to get an Ethiopian visa in Cairo for a Canadian passport? or is it better to try in Khartoum?

By security it could be a good idea to ask it in Cairo but as you are cycling It's important to have enough time to reach the Ethiopian border too...
Khartoum should be a more realistic place because you can easily reach the border. It's not too time consuming.
I can't say more, I asked mine before leaving my home country.
