Any views about the El Malky from anyone who's stayed there would be appreciated. Also info about budget hotels in the area worth trying.

Hi there,

I can’t really help you with this hotel I never stayed there. I live in Alex at the moment and everytime I go to Cairo I stay I small hotels or hostels.
Check the kind tut hostel, the Canadian Hostel, The Australian hostel, and the Luna hostel. I have stayed at all of them and I think they are the best hostels in Cairo, Very safe clean and central location.

Thanks, katecam. I want to stay in the area round Khan el Khalili rather than the King Tut/Luna side of town if I can.

People might be interested to know I got hate-mail just for making this harmless little post. Seems like the El Malky is top secret. Unless yoy read the Rough Guide, that is.
