I'm an American citizen living in Israel who will be flying from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates to Cairo, Egypt in early October for a few days to visit. I have heard conflicting things about whether or not I need to apply for a tourist visa in advance or if I can just get one quickly and simply at the airport.
Does anyone have some official governmental source or even unofficial information about this? Thanks for your help.

That site does not give an answer to my question. I emailed the contacts on the site, but don't see why the information isn't simply online.
I know that in the past Americans could just show up at the Cairo airport and get into the country, but I heard it's changed with the recent changes in government.
Plus, I won't be going from the US to Cairo. I'm an American citizen living in Israel who will be flying from Abu Dhabi to Cairo, so I'm not sure if that changes things or not.
