The Egyptian government has discontinued the discounts for nationals and residence permit holders this year.

#19 - they seemed to close at 4 the other day when I was there - and the ticket office definitely closed at 3.

We are going to Sharm in May '08 and are interested in a day trip to Cairo- but would possibly stay overnight.

As discussed previously is it OK to book with Egypt Air as an Egyptian? The Egytian rate is about £32 return and UK rate is £75 return (when we want to go) so it is quite a difference. Also can you pay for the flights with a UK credit card if you are booking the Egyptian option?

How much would we be lookig at a taxi costing from sharm to airport and from airport to cairo?

I'm pretty sure the policy of different prices for residents and non-residents is discontinued. At least that's what I heard seven-eight months ago from my travel agency in Cairo.

Dale, yes it is ok to book on the Egyptair website with Egypt as your home country. People are doing this every day and flying with no problems. I myself have done it 3 times. Pretty much everyone who knows about using the Egypt portion to book is using that. Yes, you can pay with a UK credit card even if you use the Egypt portion (have done this four times in the last week with a US credit card). Also, unless things suddenly change before you fly, no, you will not be asked to show proof of residence for Egypt. You hand over your printed e-ticket confirmation, they pull up your reservation, you're given your boarding pass. That's it. Depending on how diligent the agent is you may be asked to show your credit card. This is only used to confirm that the names match. This was confirmed by people who flew as late as yesterday.

The only other thing I would suggest is pricing your flight at different times of the day. The exact same flight, in the exact same class, can cost as much as five times more depending on the time.
