I would like to cycle from Bahryia to Dakhla, carrying with me my tent, camping equipment and food and visiting Black Desert and White Desert.
Do I need any special permit to cycle alone through these areas.
Can I carry my bike on the bus from Cairo to Bahryia?

I'm sure you could put your bike on top of a bus - though no personal experience of this.

No permit required to drive Bahariya to Dakhla so the same should apply to the bike. The police checkpoints are however not keen on tourists camping in the desert (except in the White Desert where there are official campsites). That's not to say you can't pull off the road out of sight but be prepared with the name of a hotel in the next town and say you have a booking there. They do occasionally escort you to the hotel in which case there's not much you can do about it.

The White Desert is stunning but the Black Desert much less so. Far better to spend two nights in the White Desert IMO. Dakhla is also interesting.
