I am planning to cycle solo up the Nile valley from Alexandria to Aswan (and on into Sudan) in October this year. Does anyone have any recent experience of cycling in Egypt? One concern is whether the police are likely to bar me from cycling any part of the route. I guess I wouldn't mind an escort but being told I cannot do it, or certain parts, would be bad news (unless I need a rest of course!). I would be very grateful for any information. Thanks very much.
