I arrived in Aswan a few hours ago and the hotel employee is suggesting a 3d/2n Nile cruise to Luxor with the following itinerary:

Day 1 - lunch, 3 hour sail to Kom Ombu, see the sites, cruise to/overnight in Edfu
Day 2 - Edfu temple, overnight cruise to Luxor
Day 3 - cruise ends after breakfast

There is an option for a 3rd night on the boat for sightseeing in Luxor but I've already seen a lot there.

$150/person, all meals, no drinks, and of course no entrance fees. A purportedly 5 star boat but I'll have to check that for myself during the daylight tomorrow.

Is this the standard tour? Seems kind of short as I thought there was generally 3 nights of cruising but is that in the other direction?

Cheers.

Jon

Yes, that is pretty standard.

Make sure you inspect the boat before accepting anything. Some of them are nice, some are horrible.

Have fun.

Thanks. What do you think about the price if it is indeed a nice boat?

It takes two nights either way. During busy times, many aren't too keen on just letting you book the two nights though, as you might just be taking a cabin which they could give to someone else for 4 or 5.
Availability and costs are all over the place at the moment due to a lack of business, I would think that $150 is a pretty good price, as long as the boat is OK.
Enjoy.

Ya, I'm not as knowledgable as ourluxor but the price seems fine if the boat is good. So much is dependant on the condition of the boat and quality of the food and service that it's tough to know how fair the price is.

When I walk down the street in Aswan next to the Nile where all the boats are moored I'm amazed at the difference in apparant quality of them. Some look clean and nice, others dirty and nasty.

Anyway, you get the picture.

Good luck.

"I'm not as knowledgable as ourluxor"

False modesty doesn't become you laketraveller. Take me out of Luxor and I'd get lost!

Safe travels.
