Hey all,

I will be travelling to Aswan from Luxor in the next few days and I would like to ask the better travelled here on what should be the highlights for a first-timer who wants to relax, see something 'exotic' to the west and an experience which will get me back as a better person.

Also interested in a 2-day Desert Tour just for to switch off from modern, fast-paced life.

Thanks all. :-)

"..experience which will get me back as a better person." You must be kidding?

For relaxation, try sun chair and gin tonic. For exoticism, try Karnak. For becoming a better person, try a therapist.

Aswan is a pretty quiet town.

Two things to do are take a felucca ride on the Nile and take a day trip (or stay overnight) to Abu Simbel.

Good luck.

Sail in a felucca down the Nile, stroll around Elephantine Island, ride a camel to the Monastery of St. Simeon (West Bank), make a day trip to the Temple of Isis at Philae (by boat), and perhaps visit Aswan Dam. But whatever you do don't miss Abu Simbel.

Appreciate the number of options there.

Best of luck to you also. :)
