Hello again! I wanted to thank all of you again for taking a stab at my deluge of questions - I was especially interested in the accounts of those who had seen Egypt for themselves. A lot of people I know and I am acquainted with think me mad for being so enchanted by Cairo and Egypt, but it makes the most perfect sense to me in the world. I didn't decide Cairo simply by reading The Alchemist+ or watching Brendan Fraser in +The Mummy - I decided because of its history, its art, its language, its culture, its people, its sense of adventure and danger - both sides of the dagger, if you will. The enigmatic beauty of it. Of course I want to see London, Paris, Rome, Prague, Berlin, Barcelona - all the westernized destinations, but I also want to see what is unspoiled and strange and beautiful. Something new, something shocking - to be a better human, a closer part of our daunting and lively world. I don't know. People - they have their own visions, their own mistakes, their own small moments of happiness and understanding. So thank you again, and may you always wander on.

I loved Brendan Fraser in "The Mummy"! You can love real Egypt and still enjoy a good Egyptian fantasy.

I'm sure you'll love Cairo. In Arabic they call it "Oum Al Dounia" - the mother of the world. This city is not a city, it's a world in itself.

Some years ago, I told friends and family that I was moving to Cairo. Some friends and relatives predicted that I'd be raped, kidnapped, sold into white slavery... once in Cairo I quickly found out that nearly all the Western women living there had been told the same by their own acquaintances. Well none of these things ever happened to any of us. What happened is that we all fell in love with this insane city, where every day is an adventure, and that we had a lot of fun and met loads of fascinating people.
