Hi guys, my buddy and I are flying into Jo burg from Toronto on Jan 11th , 2011. We are planning on buying and outfitting 2 Kawasaki 650s and taking them on a 2 month venture. Were both pilots looking for work so naturally we are looking at maun , gaborone, wind hook and swakopmund. What I am wondering about are road conditions, places to stay on route and the fuel situation. I'm not necessarily asking for a full break down but maybe if anyone has done the trip and has some incite or even a travel book they recommend that would be great. If anyone is planning on being there during the same time let me know. Always good to have contacts when your in the middle of know where.

Hopefully we can get some incite otherwise look for my blog as the trip gets underway

Thanks a lot
John Marshall

Hi,

you won´t have any problems at all...those countries are relatively civilized (well, Botswana is "back to baboon Africa"), but SA and Nam are easy to travel through! Roads, depending on what you wish to do, are mainly asphalt, of course off the beaten track they are gravel (most of Namibia). Everything is available, fuel, food, beer...:o)

We have been there twice in our own 4x4, just have a look at www.ourwildjourney.com for our travel blog and pics. If any questions, just ask!

Enjoy the trip, it will be amazing!
