SFO-LHR-SFO via BA, AA or Iberia

Greetings:
We will be flying to MAD from SFO via LHR. We need to book on a single carrier (i.e., combo of these and/or VA is not an option).
Regarding, specifically, the SFO-LHR and LHR-SFO route, who is currently flying the best (least worst?) equipment?
I have seen complaints about all, but BA seems to be flying the oldest equipment with the least advanced seat back entertainment.
We are flying cattle-class in June 2015.
Thanks to all who can help.

Best High Tea Near Paddington Station?

We have a short overnight stay at the Hilton at Paddinton in mid July. Where would you suggest nearby for a nice Sunday afternoon tea? We would like somewhere where we don't have to dress too fancily, but a little more nicely than just typical American summer shorts and tees.

using the London tube.....

We will be arriving Saturday and will be taking the tube from Heathrow into London (Vauxhall.) On the way, however, we need a short stop at Osterley station to drop off a parcel. We will have a valid travelcard AND an oystercard with a small amount loaded onto it. Do we need 2 separate tickets, one from Heathrow to Osterley and one from Osterley to Vauxhall? Or can we stop for 30 minutes or so at Osterley on our one fare? If we need 2 separate tickets, can the short trip to Osterley be on…

Winter in Midlands

Hi All,

I'm an Aussie who has seen little of England outside of London and the south and west. in late December 2015, straight after Christmas, 3 of us will drive a rental car from Brighton UK to Edinburgh, arriving in time for Hogmanay. Start and end points are now locked in. Good!
We have four winter days and nights to enjoy en-route driving between Brighton and Edinburgh. We enjoy English history, galleries, museums, pubs, countryside walks and castles. Happy to skip big cities in favour of…

Exchanging US Dollars

My daughter is going to be studying in London this summer. How much of a hassle is it to exchange travelers checks? I know ATM is easier, but from my limited experience with them, the exchange rate is significantly less than for cash or TCs. It would be great, if someone stated the actual rate they received, calculated from their bank statement.

Any tips on a good USA bank, from which to obtain an ATM card? Chase Bank was a poor choice for my recent trip to Guatemala. Are there any US banks…

A trip for my 40th

Hello travelers,

i would like to organise a trip for my 40th coming up in May. I recently split from my long term partner and so i thought i would do this trip on my own. Could you suggest some good destination to explore for a couple of weeks for a solo female traveler. I am based in London, i was looking at somewhere outside Europe, the furthest is the better, perhaps somewhere warm.
Thank you in advance

Maria

North West Norfolk

Hello,
Last year we spent 2 nights of the August bank holiday at The Rose and Crown Snettisham - staying there (particularly over bank holidays - but we have no choice) is expensive for the quality of the room but it is a cosy pub/ hotel downstairs to settle down at night and have one's dinner or something smaller to eat in the bar - we won't have a car and shall be using the coastal hopper to get around (we really liked the shack outside at the Victoria Hotel for the crab and lobster so want…
