I've just gotten the opportunity to take a spontaneous vacation and have settled on Costa Rica. My trip dates are June 3-10th flying in and out of SJO. I'm a mid-20s female traveling solo for the first time and am hoping to get some input as I plan my (too short) visit.

I will arrive at SJO around 1am and will need to find accommodations and a ride from the airport. I figure 7 days is enough time to see a maximum of 3 places and maybe only 2. I'm unsure about how long to spend in each place…

Two intrepid travelers in our 60s are looking for a quiet place by the ocean to rent a condo or house for about a month this winter-Jan/Feb. We love to snorkel and sometimes dive. We plan to rent a car and would like to be within a short drive of restaurants, yoga classes & food shopping but we also want to avoid a party/bar scene. We've been to Costa Rica before but mostly the nature preserves & the Oso Peninsula which was too isolated and very hot when we were there. Any…

My wife and I have a two month house sitting gig in Ojochal. We are both fitness enthusiasts and typically work out with weights daily. We are hoping there is a gym somewhere nearby. Advice??

Hello!

I'm a girl, mid-twenties and I own an online business. So, I need a nice change of pace. I've decided to get a house on AirBNB for the next month or so while I work for clients remotely. I'm in search for some recommendations for those who live or have lived in Costa Rica.

I would be by myself so here are my only concerns:
- Safety
- Opportunities to meet people; I'm 24, by myself and very extroverted. Would love to be somewhere where there are other young people as well. Maybe not…

Hi everyone!
I received a ten day visa stamp in my passport when I crossed the border from nicaragua to Costa rica but I'm actually staying in the country for fifteen days before joining a group tour to Panama and didn't realise that I will be overstaying my tourist visa. I can go to the immigration office in San jose and get my entry stamp extended for 100 dollars but I really don't want to do this, and also I don't particularly want to leave the country and return.
What is the best thing to…

Hello travelers - I'm planning a trip to Costa Rica in August for about a week, destination: Panama City from San Jose. I will be with two other 26 year old men of good health. One of our travelers currently lives on a farm outside of Puriscal. We are looking to challenge ourselves in nature while staying safe: experience rainforest hiking, find some serenity on the beach, potentially go rafting, and make it alive to Panama City for the next leg of our adventure.

My questions in this post…

Hi all

So I'm off to Costa Rica in 3 weeks time and need your advise about what clothes/footwear to take. I will be staying somewhere very remote, in the jungle. What type of clothing should I take ?. Will it get cold at night ? Should I take warm clothes ? And what type of footwear would be the most practical ? I was thinking maybe Crocs ?
I will be staying on the Pacific side, near Dominical.

Hi everyone - I'm traveling to CR in June with my 11-year old daughter. We are meeting up with an EF Tour group for 9 days, but I want to go down for 4-5 days on the front end with just the two of us. I'm looking for something pretty local and low key - I'd like to avoid western-style hotels if possible. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Also recommendations for travel from San Jose down to Pto. Viejo. We're flying in Saturday afternoon, probably stay in San Jose that…

Hello everyone,

We are a group of 4 adults and 4 kids ages 1, 5, 6, and 8 looking for a 2 week trip in Costa Rica. We are arriving mid January 2016 and want to make the most of our time. Looking to get away from the "bigger cities" and enjoy the outdoor activities (hiking, zip line, horse rides, good local resturants,SURFING, etc.) We don't care for Tamarindo or any high tourist destination. We were thinking about renting 2 different homes for a week each. We are considering the Playa Santa
