Best places to snorkel on the Great barrier reef by Cairns

Hey there does anyone know where the best spots are to snorkel (in terms of biodiversity) on the northern part of the Great Barrier Reef near Cairns? I know there are no guarantees in nature but does anybody know of any reefs where there are decent chances of seeing Octopus, Reef sharks, or other big stuff? Thanks so much!

Whitsundays or Fraser Island?

Hi Guys!
I'm planning to go in Queensland on July but the time (and budget!) is short.
I definitively want to do Whitunsdays AND Fraser Island but will do 2 days/1 night in one of them and 1 day tour on the other...
On which one you would recommend to spend more time?
If you also have nice cheap tours to recommend, we take it :-)
Thanks for your help

Travelling Oz on a WHV

Hi, I am Richard, 21 years old and I'm travelling to Australia on a working holiday visa in June. I was going with a mate but he has lost his job so can't afford to come. I'm looking for someone to meet in Australia, don't like the idea of being by myself haha!
I am travelling to Cairns and will likely chill in the sun for a couple weeks then look for work, I'm laid-back and up for a laugh.
Cheers.

Camping and budget!

We are a family of four camping around Australia - we are there for 2 months - excluding car hire/petrol/flights, what would be a reasonable budget per day or for 2 months for all 4 of us? Basically, food (combination of campsite cooking with lunches in the odd cafe etc.), campsites and nothing else (no clubbing or bridge climbs....)?

Also, how feasible is it to camp in Cairns in Early November - and heading south, will camping get progressively less sticky, say by Brisbane, Byron or Sydney?

If you had lots of money and wanted to hire a yacht

You probably still couldn't afford to hire this one. But when Vanuatu
was devastated by a cyclone the yacht owners of the Australian boat heard of the damage they instructed the crew to head there...3.5 days to travel 1600 nautical miles...to provide aid.
Those who live in Australia may already know of this, but since others probably don't, I thought it's a story worth reading...
I don't know how people in Oz would say "Job well done!"...but it's that many times over.

Dual citizenship

Hey guys,

Not sure which forum to post this on, and have quite a bit of research, upon emails and still do not have a definitive answer. I was wondering, i am born in australia, and have lived here my life (born in 1994) however my mother was born in the UK, England in 1961. To my knowledge and research, this enables me to be able to apply for a british passport.

Upon research on the UK gov website, i find conflicting information and was wondering if technically i claim i am a british citizen…

Where is the best place to get an Oz visa when overlanding

We are driving to Australia from the UK in August, hoping to take about 18 months, going via India, South East Asia etc. . Can anyone tell us where is the best place to get our Australian visas. Also we understand that you can only stay for 3 months with a 6 month maximum in any one year. We would like to stay continuously for the whole 6 months, as our Carnet will be valid for 6 months. Or is it easy to extend a visitors visa once we are there
We are Uk citizens.
Any advise would be…
