Terschelling is the largest of the Frisian Islands; it's also the most developed and most visited. A string of villages line up between polder and dunes along its 30km expanse. West-Terschelling, with the ferry port at the island's west end, and neighbouring Midsland are the largest villages, peppered with souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants. The eastern end of the island is a wild and isolated place. Overall, there are 250km of walking and cycling trails.
